Kathy comes to us from East Aurora, New York. This is how she describes her creations: “My inspiration comes from my love of nature. I even use rocks and slate in a lot of my designs. I also use wire and beads and some of my slate and polymer clay pieces have small abstract paintings I do on one-inch mirrors.” The name of her business is Rocks, Roots & Beads. I’m really looking forward to seeing her work!

Now here’s something I’m looking forward to. This is how Susan describes her unique candles she makes from used wax: “I take wax and other elements, especially rocks, and create a candle that takes on a life of its own while it’s burned. The rocks are laid in the wax and form a sculpture around the wick, which, when lit, illuminates this technique in a beautiful way. Also, the wick is anchored to the bottom of the candle/sculpture by being tied around a rock so that it burns very slowly around the rock, creating this eternal flame feel as it burns for quite a long time like that.”

Susan does freelance work and has her own business: Beautiful Creations Photography. She and her assistant are very excited to be able to share their work with a larger audience this year!

| Using natural elements to create with, each item is unique in itself. Semi-precious stones, shells, wood and glass beads inspire our creativity. Along with the wire-wrapped single stones, we incorporate wire into many of our necklaces. Stop by and check out the view. Just LOOK FOR THE SUN! |

“Stippling” refers to an art technique in which the artist composes a picture with tiny little dots using pen and ink. Pam just added a new element to the normally black and white illustrations: she uses oil paint over the pen and ink to add color to her artwork. I am looking forward to seeing her creations!

Glenn’s style is quite unique and this year he will have prints available as well as his original paintings. See for yourself!
In 2004, the West Side Times referred to our event as “a well organized and enjoyable affair . . . unique in Buffalo’s summer outdoor event line-up”. Newell Nussbaumer of Buffalo Rising calls it his “favorite community event”. Most of the participants shared our sense of success and had a good time. Art on Porches 2006 will take place on Abbottsford Place and Bird Avenue in the shadows of the Richardson Towers, just south of Forest Avenue.
In the past two years we had about 300-500 people visiting the neighborhood. We hope even more will turn out this year. Please be aware our tour does not compare with other art festivals in size and scope. We can’t guarantee visitor attendance or sales but we think this is at the very least a good opportunity for you to promote your work. We encourage you to bring brochures and/or business cards to hand out.
We’ll help you promote your work by listing all the participating artists on this webpage. We will include your name, artist statement, images of your work and links to your e-mail, your website or other contact information.
This is the fourth year of the event (formerly called RTCA Porch and Garden Art Tour). The artists will be setting up on porches in our neighborhood – please bring any tables or chairs or any other furniture you may need for your exhibit. You might also want to bring something to eat. Restroom facilities are available, but we found that all the homeowners are very hospitable and are happy to have you as a guest on their porch. Last year around 30 artists presented their works and some of them shared some of the larger porches.
