Would You Like to Help?

We (the organizers of Art on Porches 2006 ) are asking for donations to help support our Fourth Annual Art on Porches community celebration that will take place on August 5, from 11 am – 5 pm. Local artists will set up on front porches throughout our upper West-Side neighborhood, children’s games and activities will be offered and talented musicians will entertain throughout the day.

In 2004, the West Side Times referred to our event as “a well organized and enjoyable affair … unique in Buffalo’s summer outdoor event line-up” and most of the participants shared our sense of success and had a good time. The purpose of the event is to promote local artists and musicians and the same time foster a sense of community and well-being in our neighborhood. Between 300 and 500 visitors came to see the art despite less than excellent weather!

Last year the event was made possible in part by a grant from Sam Hoyt through the NY State Office of Children & Family Services (Award Number 4-8513, $2,000) and a number of other cash and in-kind donations. Any donation you could make, whether cash or in-kind, no matter how small, would be much appreciated. You can find more information on our website ArtOnPorches.org. We plan to list the sponsors and their donations on the website.

Please note that we are not tax-exempt yet, so your donations will not be tax-deductible. If you have any more questions, please call Uli MacDonald at 883-7745 or click here to e-mail her.

We thank you in advance for your help! Grassroots events like ours truly make a difference in our community and affect not only the immediate neighborhood but also improve the general quality of life in our great City of Buffalo!
